Grading Criteria

Exam is out of 62 marks.

In order to know how to answer questions correctly, it is important to understand clearly what it is the examiner is looking for in your examination responses. The examiner is looking to assess 3 main skills.

- The ability to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding
- Your ability to use, evaluate and apply your knowledge to analyse and evaluate your material
- Your understanding of How science works.

Marks will be awarded on accuracy, detail and relevance of description; breadth and effectiveness of analysis and evaluation of understanding.


AO1: Knowledge and understanding of science and of how science works
Recognize, recall and show understanding of scientific knowledge
- Select, organize and communicate relevant uninformative in a variety of forms


A02: Application of knowledge and Understanding of science and how science works
- Analyse and evaluate scientific knowledge and processes
- Apply scientific knowledge and processes to unfamiliar situations including those related to issues
- Assess the Validity, reliability and credibility of scientific information

AO3: How science works - Psychology 
- Be able to describe ethical, safe and skillful practice techniques and processes, selecting appropriate qualitative and quantitative methods
- Know how to made, record and communicate reliable and valid observations and measurements with appropriate precision and accuracy, through using primary and secondary sources
Analyse, interpret, explain and evaluate the methodology, results and impact of their own and others' experimental and investigative activities in a variety of ways.
